Many people think that the temperatures during the summer at Rancho Las Cascadas are unbearably hot. But they’re wrong!!! The Rancho is situated in a valley at an altitude of 7,500 feet above sea level and protected by high mountains. This means the weather conditions are very tempered with sunny skies almost every day and an average daily temperature at a comfortable 76ºF – perfect weather for riding! It actually gets a bit cool when the sun goes down so we always encourage guests to pack a long-sleeved shirt or sweater.
June through August is known as the ‘rainy season’, which is (unfortunately for the farmers here) not really the case. Because of the Rancho’s location in the valley, the clouds can’t gather like they do in other regions of Mexico. But occasionally in the evenings there is a shower which lasts only an hour or two. This is just enough to allow all of the usually dormant plants to bloom, creating spectacular vistas of vibrant color with cosmos flowers everywhere. Imagine cantering through millions of cosmos flowers. It’s like floating through a sea of blossoms with the horses almost hidden in the fields covered by pink.
We’ve got plenty of availability at the Rancho this summer. Consider visiting us during the Memorial Day, Fourth of July, or Labor Day weekends. The weather will be beautiful and we’ll make it easy for you to ride, explore and unwind in beautiful Mexico!
