At Rancho Las Cascadas, our herd includes Criollo, Mestizo Mexicano and Quarter Horses, as well as crosses between them.
Horses are part of everyday life at Rancho Las Cascadas. Our horses are well cared for, well trained and chosen for their temperament, soundness and reliability.
Each horse is known individually by our wranglers and carefully matched to riders according to their experience and confidence. Horse welfare always comes first, so the pace and distance of every ride are adapted to the horses, terrain and conditions.
Our goal is simple: good horses, responsible riding, and the chance to experience the Mexican countryside from the saddle.
Riding at the Rancho is not about training or competition. It is about time in the saddle, connecting with your horse, guided by local wranglers who know the horses and the land.
We welcome all levels, from first-time riders to experienced equestrians. Our trails cross open fields, forests, rolling hills and quiet rural paths, with faster riding where the terrain allows.
Morning rides are up to 4 hours and afternoon rides 2-3 hours. Guests can choose to ride once or twice a day, with full-day rides also available for stays of 4 nights or more.

The Quarter Horse is known for its strength, agility and calm temperament. With a compact, muscular build, these horses are reliable, responsive and quick to learn.
Sure-footed and versatile, they are comfortable across different terrain and well suited to riders of varying experience levels.
The Mexican Mestizo comes from a mix of local Criollo horses and other breeds introduced over generations. This varied heritage has created a hardy, adaptable and reliable horse.
Known for their calm nature and sensitivity to the rider, Mestizos can adjust well to different levels of experience, from beginners to more confident riders.
Strong, sure-footed and full of character, they are perfectly suited to the varied terrain and long rides of the Mexican countryside.
The Azteca is Mexico’s national horse, developed specifically for the traditional Mexican Charro. A combination of Andalusian, Quarter Horse and Criollo bloodlines, the breed is known for its strength, agility and natural balance.
Aztecas are intelligent, responsive and sure-footed, with the stamina needed for long days in the saddle.
Athletic yet reliable, they represent an important part of Mexico’s equestrian tradition and are especially well suited to the varied terrain of the Mexican countryside.

For the Horses
Our horses return home each day to their familiar herd, surroundings and routine. They sleep where they are comfortable, with the same feeding, care and wranglers, without the stress of being transported from one location to another. There’s something special about seeing their ears perk up as they return to their herd at the end of a ride.
For the Rider
A center-based stay gives you freedom and flexibility. Ride at the level that feels right, change groups or horses when needed, and progress naturally as your confidence grows. Because we can rotate and rest horses, longer and more varied rides are possible too.
It also allows us to adapt the week around local fiestas, special events and unexpected opportunities — making every stay a little different.
