There is something undeniably peaceful about donkeys.
They move at their own pace, greet you with gentle curiosity, and seem to remind us all to slow down and appreciate life’s simple pleasures. Here at Rancho Las Cascadas, we are delighted to introduce our newest family members: Capuchino and Milagro.

With their beautiful pale coats, almost white in the morning sunlight, these two have already begun charming guests and staff alike as they wander through the gardens, nap beneath the trees, and enjoy the cool mountain air.
We were recently told that light-colored donkeys are considered by some to be a sign of good luck. Whether legend or simply wishful thinking, we love the idea. Donkeys have long symbolized humility, patience, strength, and steadfast companionship. Their calm nature has a remarkable way of making a place feel softer, quieter, and somehow more complete.
And perhaps there is a little magic in that.
Capuchino and Milagro have quickly become part of daily life at the Rancho. You may find them strolling near the pool, greeting horses on their way to pasture, or simply standing together watching the sun set over the Mexican Highlands.
At Rancho Las Cascadas, we believe that some of life’s greatest luxuries are not found in grand gestures, but in small moments: the smell of fresh coffee in the morning, the sound of horses returning from a ride, wildflowers after a summer rain, and now, the gentle presence of two donkeys who remind us to pause and enjoy the beauty around us.
Are Capuchino and Milagro bringing good luck to the Rancho?
We’ll let our guests decide. But one thing is certain—our little corner of paradise feels even more special with them here.
We hope you’ll come meet them soon.
