One of the things that guests quickly notice when they arrive at the Rancho is how comfortable the weather is throughout the year.
Because of our elevation 2300 mts (7800ft) the temperatures stay mild and pleasant, making the Rancho a great place to come at anytime of the year. Each time of the year offers a slightly different experience from dry golden landscapes to vibrant green hill later on in the year.
Spring at the Rancho (March – May)
Spring at the Rancho is calm and beautiful. The days are usually mild and sunny, while the morning and evenings can still feel cool and fresh.
During April and May, many of the cactus begin to bloom and this adds bright flowers across the landscape. It is a special time to ride the trails and these colorful blooms appear among the desert plants and rocky hills.
The scenery during this season is still mostly dry which creates the classic rancho landscape visitors imagine. With clear skies and comfortable temperatures spring is a wonderful time for horseback riding and exploring the countryside.
Summer at the Rancho (June – August)
Because of the Rancho elevation summers stay comfortable. The daytime temperatures are usually around 23C (75F) which makes it easy to spend long days outside without the extreme heat. Mornings are perfect for horseback riding while the air is cool and fresh. During the afternoons you may choose to ride again or many guests enjoy relaxing by the pool, spending time in the gardens or simply enjoying the quiet views around the Rancho. Evenings cool down nicely making it the perfect time to watch the sunset or relaxing under the stars.
Normally here at the Rancho June, July and August is the rainy season, which means it rains often, but mostly at night and only an hour or two. However, when it rains it can be very heavy and with thunder storms at times. The great thing is that the next day there is blue sky and sunshine again.
Late Summer and Early Fall – Our Wild Flower Season
Around late August and into September the landscape around the Rancho begins to change. After the rainy season the hills turn bright green and the Rancho becomes especially beautiful. This is when the countryside feels most alive with lush scenery, beautiful wild flowers and vibrant views along the trails. Many guests love visiting during this time of the year because of the combination of green hills, colorful landscapes, fresh air and comfortable temperatures makes the rancho feel particularly special.
Fall at the Rancho (September – November)
Fall is one of the most beautiful times of the year at the Rancho. After the summer rains the land surrounding the Rancho comes alive and everything turns surprisingly green. The hills and valleys are full of fresh grasses and plants, and the air feels clear and fresh. As the season moves later into October the vibrant green gradually begins to bade back into the golden tones the the rancho is known for. This creates a beautiful mix of colors across the landscape. Temperatures are very comfortable for riding with warm sunny days and cooler mornings and evenings. It is wonderful time to ride and explore the trails as the scenery feels especially vibrant after the rainy season.
Winter at the Rancho (December – March)
Winter is one of the most popular seasons to visit the Rancho. Days are typically sunny with mild temperatures making it the ideal weather for spending time outside and riding horses. Morning can be crips and evenings are a bit on the cooler side so we suggest bringing along a light jacket. But during the day the sun usually warms up nicely and creates perfect conditions for riding. The landscape during the winter has a quiet beauty. Clear shies, wide open views, and peaceful trails make this a relaxing time to visit the Rancho. It is a season many guests return for year after year because the weather is so enjoyable for riding and spending time outside.
No matter when you visit us the Rancho offers beautiful views, fresh air and time to slow down and enjoy nature. Each season has it own character but the experience of exploring the trails spending the time with horses and enjoying the quiet beauty of the countryside remains the same.
